Bulldogs have Red Dirt Classic, Lady Bulldogs host festival

The Wayne Bulldogs fell victim to the weather early this week when their games with Maud and Wynnewood were canceled.

As of press time, the Red Dirt Classic in Marlow is on as scheduled. The Bulldogs play Carnegie at 10 a.m. today (Thursday). If they win, they play again at 2 p.m. If they lose, they would play Friday morning.

The Class 3A #8 Lady Bulldogs were supposed to be back on the diamond in Purcell on Monday, but Mother Nature had other plans. Heavy rains and wet fields canceled the game with the Dragons as well as Tuesday’s game with Dibble.

Today and Friday is the annual Wayne Festival.

The Lady Bulldogs kick it off with Bowlegs at 9 a.m. today (Thursday). The will also play Crooked Oak at 12:45 and Maysville at 8:30 today. Friday’s games are with Western Heights and Elmore City at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Next week, head coach Charles Durrence and his team will be in Konawa for the conference tournament.
