Mrs. Mantooth passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024.

Rena Louise Blackwood was born on October 26, 1949 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the second of three children born to Richard Desmonte Blackwood and Onie Rae (Allred) Blackwood. She attended school in Oklahoma City where she graduated from SE High School.

A short time later, her parents made the decision to purchase a restaurant in Purcell, Oklahoma. She didn’t know it at the time, but this would be how she met the love of her life. As the story goes, he was dining at her family’s restaurant and she was the waitress serving him. He refused to leave without asking her out on a date! The two quickly fell in love and were married on December 5, 1970. The couple shared 53 wonderful years of marriage together and created many memories to last a lifetime.

One of Rena’s greatest accomplishments in life was becoming a proud mother to her two sons, Berry and Chad. She considered herself blessed to be a stay-at-home mother for several years, and she truly valued getting to spend that quality time with them.

Rena was also an extremely talented beautician, and ran her own beauty shop from her home. In her free time, Rena  loved to fish, knit, and crochet. She was also an excellent cook, most famously known for her fried chicken and chicken & dumplings! Rena was very caring and nurturing in nature, but she could also be onery every now and then.

More than anything, Rena was a family woman. She loved spending time with her family and supporting them in any way she could, especially her grandchildren. She truly cherished every moment with them. Rena was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and a true friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Mantooth; her parents, Richard and Onie Blackwood; brother, Richard Blackwood Jr.; niece, Michelle Mantooth and nephews, Shane Spencer and Brian Wall.
