Penny Lou (Givens) Bruehl, age 60, passed from this life on January 8, 2020. Services have been entrusted to the care of Primrose Funeral Service located at 1109 N. Porter Ave. in Norman, Okla. A public visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 12-8 p.m. and a funeral service honoring her life will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2020, both at Primrose Funeral Home.

Penny was born on April 3, 1959 in Purcell, Okla., to Roy and Mary Mavis (Sarrett) Givens. She attended school in Oklahoma City at Capitol Hill until 1972 when her family returned to Purcell where she graduated from Purcell High School with the class of 1977.

In school, she enjoyed playing on the high school basketball team as well as being an active member of the band. She then attended the University of Oklahoma. She was baptized on May 2, 1980 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Purcell.

Through her early life, she held jobs at Tastee Freez, Perfection Hi-Test and Purcell Municipal Hospital before starting her career at Tinker Air Force Base. She spent 35 years at Tinker before retiring in January 2016 as an Industrial Engineering Technician Lead. It was there that she met many people that became her dearest, life-long friends.

Grandma Penny adored her grandkids and loved to spoil them, whether taking them out to eat, buying them goodies at garage sales or cuddling up watching cartoons. She enjoyed her house at Lake Texoma and the many wonderful friends that she made there. She enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping with her family.

There aren’t enough words to describe how selfless, loving, understanding and wonderful Penny was to all who knew her. Above all else, Penny cherished her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mavis (Sarrett) Givens and brother, Jerry Dale Givens.

She is survived by her son, Ryan Bruehl and wife, Leah; daughter, Kelli Anderson; grandchildren, Whitney Bruehl, Adlee Croslin, Mckenzie Bruehl and Ace Anderson; brother, Don Givens; and sister, Dana Spencer and husband James, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other beloved family members and friends.

Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at PrimroseFuneralService.com.
