Mid-America Technology Center representatives were in attendance to honor the Purcell Fire Department as its 2024 OkACTE Partners in Progress Award recipient at this year’s celebratory event held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Edmond.

This prestigious award is presented by Oklahoma Association of Career and Technical Education (OkACTE) and the Oklahoma Association of Centers (OATC) to recognize businesses for their outstanding commitment to the improvement of career technical education, workforce excellence and education in the community.

The partnership between Mid-America Technology Center and the City of Purcell’s Fire Department is built on the shared dedication to provide quality training to the firefighters in our communities. Under the leadership of Chief Greg Cypert, Purcell Fire has been a constant source of support.

The department has provided an abundance of resources and has also provided their knowledgeable staff to assist with various first responder classes.

Purcell Fire has never declined a request to assist Mid-America Tech but, rather, has actively sought to improve the delivery of training with their insights and knowledge of the fire service.

Organized in December of 1904, the Purcell Fire Department is a dedicated fire and rescue organization serving the dynamic and growing city of Purcell, Oklahoma. Although nearly every aspect of the Fire Service has changed during the past century, there has been one constant in that Purcell firefighters continue to be a courageous, dedicated and caring group of people working together to provide excellent fire service with a clear focus on the community.

This annual award celebrates the City of Purcell Fire Department’s exceptional contributions to the advancement, promotion, development, and progress of career and technology centers in Oklahoma.

Mid-America Technology Center is an accredited institution and is one of 29 Career and Technical education options within Oklahoma’s globally recognized Career Tech System. MATC serves an area in South-Central Oklahoma covering approximately five counties. To learn more about Mid-America Technology Center visit matech.edu.
