Knocked out of Regionals by Blackwell

The Lexington Lady ‘Dawgs were in Washington last week for Regionals with the Lady Warriors and the Blackwell Lady Maroons.

They dropped two games to Blackwell, 9-4 and 10-8, to end their season. 

In game one, Blackwell scored one run in the top of the first inning and a Kiely Givens single in the bottom half scored one run for Lexington to tie it up at 1-1.

But, Blackwell broke open scoring in the second inning with six runs. They added one in the fourth and one in the seventh.

Lexington scored one run in the third. Marleigh Givens homered in the seventh inning to score two runs.

Hannah Garrett was in the circle for one and two-thirds innings. She allowed one walk and seven runs on five hits. Marleigh Givens came in in relief. She struck out three and walked five.

Neither pitcher allowed an earned run.

Lexington had six errors in the loss.

Game two was a 10-8 loss and Lexington had six hits. Baylee Rillema was the leader at the plate with two. Mackenzie Manuel, Maison Sissney, Kora Parker and Chloe Becker each had one.

Sissney led the team with two runs batted in. Manuel, Rillema and Abby Sample each had one.

Marleigh and Garrett were in the circle for the loss. They combined for four strikeouts.

Head coach Monty Ervin finished his second season with the Lady Bulldogs with a 11-20 record. Four seniors will be lost to graduation, Marisa Northrup, Abi Cifton, Kiely Givens and Sample.
