An apparent unprovoked knife attack has landed a 31-year-old Lexington man in legal hot water.

Kevin L. Moss Jr., was charged June 1 in McClain County District Court with a felony count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and a misdemeanor count of assault and battery.

An arrest warrant is outstanding. Also, Moss is to have no contact with reported victim Johnny Madden.

According to an affidavit, the altercation occurred April 11 outside Madden’s home on High Avenue in Lindsay.

Madden told a McClain County deputy sheriff that his daughter came by that evening with Moss to pick up a copy of her birth certificate.

According to Madden, Moss is his daughter’s boyfriend and has threatened Madden in the past.

Madden said he approached the vehicle in his driveway and asked Moss to leave the property.

Instead, Moss reportedly exited the vehicle, struck Madden in the face with his fist and then swung at the older man with a large switchblade knife in his hand.

Witnesses reported that Moss allegedly threatened to kill Madden.

Moss also reportedly threatened to kill the son of Madden’s girlfriend.
