Joan Mae Barker, of Dibble, died Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at her home.  The daughter of George Turner and Ruby Elizabeth (Walker) Chambers, she was born March 2, 1945 in Paden, Oklahoma.

Joan grew up in Mangum and Reed, Oklahoma, but also lived in Georgia for thirteen years. But, she has lived in the Dibble area for the last 42 years.

Joan married John Raymond Barker, Jr. on August 6, 1964, in Oklahoma City. Joan worked for 26 years as a daycare teacher at Kindercare in Norman, where she loved and nurtured many, many children.

In her spare time, Joan liked doing crafts, watching her birds, and playing games with the family. She loved to read and work crossword puzzles.  She will be greatly missed by all her knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Barker; two sisters, Wanda Miller and Nina Baxter; brother, Hershel Chambers; and one niece, Glenda Wait.

She is survived by one daughter, Annette Groehler of Dibble; two sons, Gene Barker and his wife, Laura, of Snellville, Georgia, and John T. Barker and his wife, Tricia, of Purcell; seven grandchildren, Michael Groehler and his wife, Erica, of Norman, Jonathon Groehler of Dibble, Lee Heflin of Atlanta, Georgia, Brittany Rutledge and her husband, Kris, of Snellville, Georgia, Alex Barker of Snellville, Georgia, Jesika Skinner of Purcell, and John Bradley Barker of Dibble; four great-grandchildren, Drake, Brenden, Brailey and Hunter; sister, Betty Miller and husband, Glen, of  Hinkley, Minnesota; and many other loved ones and friends.
