Funeral services for James “Jim” Wallace, 79, of Lexington were held Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in the Veterans Section at Hillside Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Mr. Wallace passed away Friday, December 20, 2019 at his home.
James Allen Wallace was born on December 25, 1939 in Purcell, Oklahoma. He was the second child of seven children born to Kenneth George Wallace and Jettie (Dumas) Wallace. Jim grew up in Purcell and attended Purcell schools. At the age of 17, he enlisted into the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Jim raised four children, Clarissa, Kelly, Nathan and Shirley. He was stationed in various countries and lived in many different states during his 20 years in the service. After he was honorably discharged he returned home to Purcell in 1977 and started to work at Joseph Harp Correctional Center in Lexington. He worked 10 years at Joseph Harp and later worked several years at the Army Aviation Support Center east of Lexington before retiring in 1990.
While working at Joseph Harp, Jim met and later married Pam Newton. In 1983 they moved east of Lexington where they have enjoyed country living for the past 36 years.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman. Throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed auto racing pure stocks for many years. Jim loved being outdoors, working in the yard and mowing. He was a master tinkerer and could fix about anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Jettie Wallace; daughter, Kelly Donnell; sisters, Marsha Shaw and Shelia Wallace and brother, Timothy Wallace.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Wallace of the home; son, Nathan Wallace and wife, Donna, of Goldsby; two daughters, Clarissa Robison of Norman and Shirley Chesser of Lexington; two brothers, Joe Wallace and wife, Angie, of Purcell and Mark Wallace and wife, Gaylen, of Purcell; one sister, Kateri Longacre of Blanchard; six grandchildren, Rachele Jensen and husband, Tommy, of Moore, Kara Robison of Weatherford, Kelci Houck and husband, Blake, of Goldsby, Jacob Wallace of Washington, Raven Chesser of Lexington and Skylar Chesser of Lexington; two great-grandchildren, Easton and Dakota Houck; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
