A Wanette man was killed in a one-vehicle traffic accident October 21 west of Wanette in Pottawatomie County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported the fatality accident occurred at 5:48 p.m. on SH 39 and Fishmarket Road three miles north and seven miles west of Wanette.
The OHP said the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Joel Carter, 65, was eastbound on 39 when it departed the roadway striking a mailbox and then a tree.
Carter was pinned for approximately two hours before being extricated by Lexington and Wanette Fire Departments using the Hurst Tool.
Trooper Fryrear was assisted by Lt. Rawls, Trooper May, the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department, Wanette Fire and Lexington Fire.
