Led by Jayden Polk, Purcell’s High School cross country team finished seventh at the Waurika CC meet last Tuesday, October 10.
The Dragons raced against 11 of the top 25 teams from class 3A and 4A with over 210 other runners in the 5k race.
Polk paced the Dragons with a fourth place finish in 17:29.85.
27th - Erick Suarez, 18:15.97
37th - Carlow Pacheco, 19:08.74
87th - Fernando Resendiz, 20:57.55
98th - Josh Hamilton, 21:08.47
The last scorer for Purcell was Josh Hamilton. Josh finished 98th and crossed the finish line in 21:08.47.
The displacers for Purcell were Landon Brown who finished in 21:19.58 and Cesar Suarez who dashed to a 22:15.82 finish.
Mason Rogers (135th), Ethen Berger (140th), Bryson Perkins (154th), Brayden Rowden (167th), Mason Agee (179th), Bodie Perigo (186th) and Rigo Martinez (213th) also ran at the meet.
Purcell had one girl runner at the meet. Alyssa Macarthur finished 162nd out of 196 runners. She crossed the finish line in 19:56.94.
Next up for Purcell is Regionals at Waurika High School. The girls run at 9 a.m. Saturday with the boys starting at 9:45 a.m.
