Posted

Graveside services for Deanna Morehead, 67, of Washington were held Friday, July 17, 2020 at the Washington Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Morehead passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the Norman Regional Healthplex.

LaDeanna Marie Ellis was born May 7, 1953 in Tulsa, the oldest of three children born to ElDean Clyde Ellis and Nancy Louise (Phillips) Ellis. Thanks to her uncle, Deanna inherited three more siblings and was raised in Elmore City. She graduated with the Badger Class of 1971.

Deanna began working for NAPA, running parts to service stations and dealerships. By chance, she met a young man named Darrell Morehead. He was working at a service station in Norman and decided he would ask her out, and the rest as they say, is history. Nearly 45 days later, on June 15, 1977, Darrell and Deanna were married in Norman.

In 1982, they purchased an acreage near Washington, and have called it home since. Together they raised two children, son Ron and daughter, Andrea. Deanna worked in the parts department for Ferguson Pontiac/Buick/GMC for a while. For the last 25 years, she has worked side by side with Darrell, managing the family business, Axis Plumbing.

Deanna was the “Rock” of the family. She was strong and yet nurturing. Her heart was gold and she could intellectually challenge anyone. Family was everything to Deanna. She cherished her grandchildren, and became a Nana to many more in the community, as she raised a whole village of children. She was a wonderful and fun loving, wife and mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Natalee Hope Morehead; her parents, L. Dean and Nancy Ellis and brothers, Ronnie Ellis and Joe Steadman.

Deanna is survived by her best friend and life partner, Darrell Morehead; son, Ron Morehead of Ft. Worth, Texas; daughter, Andrea Dennis and husband, Cody, of Wanette; siblings, Carol Higgins of Noble, Michael J. Steadman of Naples, Fla., and Steve Steadman of Washington; sister-in-law, Mary Harper of Norman; four grandchildren, Renee, Emmelynn, Cody Jr. and Allyzandrea and a host of other family and friends.
