Lexington’s 41-15 homecoming victory over Marietta on Friday increased the Bulldogs’ post season chances.

The victory hiked the Bulldogs’ district record to 4-1 with a tough road trip to 5-0 Kingston. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Redskins operate out of a spread formation on offense and base out of a 4-3 on defense. They will also jump into a 3-4 depending on the offensive set.

“They’ve got a really good quarterback that runs and throws very well,” Lexington Head Coach Keith Bolles said.

“They’ve got big linemen and tall receivers. They are just solid all the way around. There’s a reason they are 5-0 in the district.”

Sophomore Cameron Weatherford ran for four touchdowns in the Marietta victory. Junior Gavrie Williams returned a fumble 66-yards to the house.

Cayden Krueger opened the scoring on a 19 yard run.

Weatherford, who finished the night with 103 rushing yards, scored on runs of three, three, 10 and 13.

“It was an overall team effort,” Bolles said. “The whole team played well. Our defense did a great job against their running attack and our offensive line played well. We had a 100 yard rusher.

“We just came out and took care of business,” the coach concluded.

Bulldog notes:

Lexington Head Coach Keith Bolles nominated Cameron Weatherford as the Offensive Player of the Week for his four touchdown performance against Marietta.

Wyatt McBride was nominated as the Offensive Lineman of the Week. He graded out at 78 percent.

Issac Martin got the nod as the Defensive Lineman of the Week. He caused a fumble, had a quarterback sack and had some big tackles, the coach said.

Bolles nominated Buddy Cormany as the Defensive Player of the Week.
