Lexington scored the first four touchdowns on their way to a 35-22 district victory at Coalgate last Friday night.

Cadyn Krueger opened the scoring on a 77 yard cross-country romp. The sophomore scored in the third quarter on a one-yard plunge. He finished the night with 19 carries for 140 yards.

Cameron Weatherford got the rock 14 times for 119 yards and scored a touchdown.

Reagan Smith returned an interception back to the house in the second period.

Dalton Brewer closed out the Bulldog scoring in the fourth quarter on a three yard run. Kaden McCraven booted all five PATs.

Head coach Keith Bolles praised the play of his offensive line, especially Ean Caywood, who moved to center with less than a week of practice.

“He did an outstanding job for his first game with less than a week to prepare,” Bolles said.

He also praised the blocking of running backs Weatherford, Cormany and Brewer.

“They all blocked well for the quarterback,” the coach said.

“We are improving in the offensive line,” Bolles said of Wyatt McBride, Issac Martin, Caywood, Trace Bradsher and Cash Lippel.

On the defensive side of the ball Weatherford lit up the Wildcats making a team-leading 15 tackles.

Gavrie Williams finished with 10 tackles including three for losses. To go with his interception, Cormany registered five tackles.

Up next for the Bulldogs is a date tonight (Thursday) at Floyd West Field hosting the Atoka Wampus Cats starting at 7:30 p.m.

The Wampus Cats operate out of the I-formation on offense and base their defense out of a 3-4 alignment.

Bolles said the key for the Bulldogs, “is to just play within ourselves.

“We are gaining experience and getting more confidence each week. I am so very proud of these kids,” he said.

“If we keep progressing I like our opportunities,” Bolles said.

Atoka is 1-5 on the season and 1-2 in district play.

Lexingtono is 3-3 and 2-1.

The Wampus Cats are coming off a 43-6 loss at the hands of Holdenville.

Bulldog notes:

Head coach Keith Bolles nominated Cadyn Krueger as the Offensive Player of the Week. Krueger rushed 19 times for 140 yards and two touchdowns against Coalgate. He was also 7-9 passing for 26 yards.

The Offensive Lineman of the Week nominee is Issac Martin, who graded out at 80 percent last Friday night.

Getting the nod as the Defensive Player of the Week was Cameron Weatherford with 15 tackles.

Bolles nominated Gavrie Williams as the Defensive Lineman of the Week. He had 10 tackles in the Coalgate victory including three for losses.
