Senior night festivities slated for Friday before kickoff

The Healdton Bulldogs will pay a visit to D.S. Zack Powell Stadium Friday night for a 7 p.m. kickoff in the battle of the Bulldogs.

Wayne head coach Brandon Sharp said his team will see a physical team in Healdton as they face the back end of their schedule.

“They have big offensive and defensive lines who have been getting better every week,” Sharp said. “We’ve seen quite a bit of film on them and you can see the improvements. Their new coach (Dylan Terry) is doing a good job with them.”

Healdton’s roster is loaded with young players who have had to grow up on the fly this season.

Healdton’s sophomore running back Roo Franklin will be a handful in the Healdton run game.

“He runs hard and is really physical,” Sharp said.

Healdton’s senior quarterback, is another Bulldog who has Sharp’s attention.

“He’s a real physical kid who can run and they have a 6’5” receiver we’ll have to figure out a way to handle.”

Healdton will run the same plays out of different formations to try to get the opposing defense in situations where they are outnumbered.

Defensively the Bulldogs will run a 4-4 or 4-3 with Franklin and Macias lining up at linebacker.

“We’ll have to do a better job up front and play really well to get back on the winning track,” Sharp said.

Senior Night will be held at 6:30 before kickoff.

Ringling

Wayne fell to Ringling 38-0 last Friday.

Wayne again had to go into scramble mode on the offensive line as a series of injuries and players out of action plagues the team.

“Logan Idleman did a good job stepping in against a really tough team like Ringling,” Sharp said. “We had to move guys around the line.”

Sharp also complemented the play of Jaxon Dill.

“It doesn’t show in the stat line but he ran the ball really hard,” he said.

Defensively, Eli Hobson with seven tackles and Duke Moore with five were the team leaders.

Wayne is 1-6.
