Funeral services for Annette Goad, 84, of Purcell will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2020 at Union Hill Baptist Church. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Goad passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020.

Marie Annette Huffines was born December 22, 1935, in Wynnewood View Community. She was raised in Wynnewood and attended school there, graduating with the Savages Class of 1953.

Annette met a young man from Pauls Valley named Clifford Owens. They first made their home in Oklahoma City and settled in Purcell in 1964 where they raised two children, daughter Lisa and son Perry.

Annette worked for Kerr McGee, and in bookkeeping at First American Bank for a time. She then worked at Purcell Municipal Hospital, retiring after more than 35 years of dedicated service.

Some years later, after Clifford’s passing, Annette met a man named Tom Goad. They had both been attending Corbett Baptist Church, and after a short courtship, Tom convinced Annette to marry him.

If you knew Annette, you loved her, and love was her calling. She had the most beautiful smile and a generous heart, and she cherished her family, and especially her grandchildren. Annette remained very active in their lives, and was involved in many of the activities and interests. She was a member of the Okeyah Mother’s Club for many years. She enjoyed cake decorating and scrapbooking and was a woman of great faith. Annette was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church in Purcell. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by her son, Perry Owens; husband, Clifford Owens and parents, Fred and Ruby Kennedy.

Annette is survived by her husband, Tom Goad; her daughter, Dr. Lisa Owens of Houston, Texas; six stepchildren, Taundie LaCasa and husband, Mike, of Hollister, Calif., Kathlene Haley of Duncan, Okla., Diane Dwyer of San Antonio, Texas, Jimmie Goad of Piedmont, Tommie Goad of Ada and Heather Mix and husband, Mike, of Corbett; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
