Current Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce President Greg Wheat now has another hat to wear.

Wheat, 48, defeated Chris Hurt for the Division 2 seat on the Purcell City Council Tuesday, 123-81.

“I am eager to collaborate with fellow council members and humbled to build on the successes of those who have served before me,” Wheat told The Purcell Register.

“While I can’t guarantee to satisfy everyone, I’m committed to listening to everyone and making decisions with the community’s best interests at heart.”

There were two three-person races for school board seats at Wayne and Washington, both won without a runoff.

Harvey Fisher won in Wayne garnering 123 votes for a 62.44 percent margin over Shad Blackwell and Ryan Morris.

Adam Price won by a 63.48 percent margin with 146 votes over Ashley Teel ad Clayton Colley.
