Coronation ceremony begins at 6 p.m.

Prior to their games with Pauls Valley on Friday night, Washington will crown the 2023-24 basketball king and queen.

The coronation will be held at 6 p.m. prior to the tip off of the boys game, which will be played first followed by the girls game.

Queen candidates are senior Brinley Thomas, junior Shelbie Caveness, sophomore Kelby Beller and freshman Bella Andrews.

The senior king candidates are Kade Norman, Jace Cole, Jeremiah Tontz, Noah Ladlee, Cole Beller and Cage Morris.

The flower girl is Jentrie Simon while Tucker Scholz will serve as crown bearer.

Thomas is the daughter of Amy and Kevin Thomas. She participates in cross-country, track, basketball, cosmetology at Mid-America Technology Center and is in FCA.

She was on a state runner-up basketball team.

Caveness is the daughter of Clay and Lindsey Caveness and is in FCA, plays softball and basketball. Beller is the daughter of Kami and Brad Beller.

She plays basketball, fast-pitch, slow-pitch, is in track, FCA and NHS.

Beller is the daught er of Brad and Kami Beller. She was on a State Champion fast-pitch softball team, was on a State Runner-up basketball beam and State Runner-up slow-pitch team. She qualified for the State Cross-Country competition and was named All-State by The Oklahoman and Tulsa World in 2023. She was also the 2023 MVP of the Bertha Teague Mid-America Classic basketball Tournament.

Andrews is the daughter of Nick and Lacie Andrews. She plays basketball and is in the FFA and FCA.

Norman is the son of Karly and Brandon Norman.

He plays football, basketball, baseball and is in FCA. Norman is a two-time State Football Champion, two-time State Baseball Champion and a two-time football State Runner-up. He was named the 2022 All-District utility player.

Cole is the son of John Cole and Christa O’Gorman. He plays basketball and golf and is in the NHS.

Tontz is the son of Greg and Laura Tontz. He plays basketball, is in FCA, a member of the Stuco and yearbook. He is the student body president and a member of NHS.

Ladlee is the son of Jay and Janet Ladlee. He has been a member of NHS for three years, played basketball and been on the track team for four years.

He will attend The University of Oklahoma to major in Atmospheric Sciences and Engineering.

Beller is the son of Donnie and Corrie Beller. He plays football, basketball, track, is in FCA, yearbook and student council.

He is a member of NHS and was a two-time State Football Champion and a two-time State Runner-up in football.

Morris is the son of Laramy and Casie Morris. He plays football, basketball, baseball, is in NHS, FCCLA, FCA and yearbook.

Morris is a two-time State Football Champion, two-time State Baseball Champion and a two-time football State Runner-up.

Scholz is the four-year-old son of T.J. and Nicole Scholz. He plays baseball, soccer and basketball. His favorite food is candy and his favorite color is blue.

When he grow up he wants to be Batman.

Simon is the seven-year-old granddaughter of Ron and Cindy Boyer and Danny and Connie Simon. Her parents are Kale and Jenny Simon.

She plays softball and basketball. Her favorite food is spaghetti and her favorite color is red. When she grows up she wants to be a doctor.
