A celebration of the life of Virgil Lee Townley Sr., 87, of Wynona, Okla., will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 12, 2021 at the First Assembly of God Church in Cleveland, Okla. Interment will be at the Ethel Reece Cemetery in Barnsdall, Okla. Services will be under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mr. Townley died Jan. 1, 2021 at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City after an extended illness.

He was born on Nov. 29, 1933 in Bigheart, Okla, known as Barnsdall, the oldest of seven children of Lucian Monroe Townley and Jewell (Gilbert) Townley.

Survivors include his six children, James Edward Townley, Connie Ososkie and husband, Kevin, of Yorktown, Va., Jackie Perry and husband, Gary, of Washington, Okla., Virgil Lee Townley Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Ardmore, Okla., James Thomas Eckenrode and wife, Suzanne, of Dinwiddie, Va., and Christopher Allen Townley of Oklahoma City; two stepchildren and their families, Kyle (Buddy) Quillan of Wynona, Okla., Kari Luster and husband, Brian, of Bartlesville, Okla.; two sisters, Mary Alice Downey of Barnsdall, Okla., and Jeanie Townley of Fowler, Kan., two stepsisters, Sharon Rose Gomez and Ester Adams; three stepbrothers, David Townley, Jack Townley and Harold Townley; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
