The Wayne Bulldogs have started their baseball season with two wins. A 14-1 victory over Ninnekah on February 27 and a 12-2 win over Thackerville on Monday.

Their scheduled game with Bray-Doyle was a forfeit win for Wayne.

Thackerville

Senior Braden McClendon was lights out on the mound for Wayne with nine strikeouts in Monday’s win over Thackerville. He allowed just two runs on four hits.

“Braden pitched well. He got himself in a jam in the second inning, but got himself out with three strikeouts in a row,” head coach Shane Collins said.

Wayne finished the game with 12 runs on seven hits. Jaxon Dill was 2-4 at the plate with two hits, Wyatt Webster was 1-2 at the plate.

Ty Kemp led the team with two hits and three RBIs.

“Ty got us going in the first inning. We had a couple guys get on base -- walked on -- and Ty hit them in to get us on the board.”

Wayne scored three runs in the third inning, one in the fourth and they added six in the fifth.

They finished the game with seven stolen bases.

“We played decent in the field. It was a good win to start this week,” Collins said.

Ninnekah

Wayne picked up a 14-1 win over Ninnekah in their first game.

“It was a good game to start the season,” Collins said.

Dill pitched for two innings. He struck out four and allowed no hits.

Duke Moore came in in relief for one inning. He allowed two hits, two walks and struck out two.

McClendon had an inside the park homerun in the second inning.

Wayne was scheduled to host Wewoka and Wynnewood on Tuesday. They will be in Sasakwa on Thursday for a three way with the Vikings and the Paden Pirates. Friday they travel to Stratford.
