With the higher turnout, President Donald Trump found more support across Oklahoma than he did in 2016.

In McClain County, Trump polled 15,264 votes on Tuesday, up from 13,169 four years ago.

Statewide, the president captured 65.37 percent of the vote with 1,018,879 votes.

Joe Biden also fared better than Hillary Clinton did in 2016.

He received 3,581 votes compared to 2,894 cast for Clinton in McClain County.

His statewide tally of 503,289 was good for 32.29 percent of the vote.

District 4 Congressman Tom Cole will return to Congress for another term with 212,830 votes, including 15,320 in McClain County.

Cole’s perennial challenger, Mary Brannon, received 3,208 votes in the county and 90,350 across the district.

Incumbent U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe handily defeated his Democrat challenger, Abby Broyles, 977,813 to 509,186 in statewide balloting.

McClain County totals were 14,572 for Inhofe to 3,859 for Broyles.

The lone Oklahoma legislative race affecting McClain County saw the Republican candidate Jessica Garvin besting former Purcell resident Terri Reimer 30,343 to 6,582.

Oklahoma voters didn’t like either of the state questions on the ballot.

Both measures also drew voter displeasure in McClain County.

The county total on SQ 805 was 13,084 against to 5,612 for. The statewide vote saw 922,156 no votes to 587,502 in favor.

SQ 814 failed in McClain County 11,611 to 6,840 and statewide by 876,407 against to 614,290 in favor.

The lone McClain County local vote was for a 5 percent lodging tax in Blanchard.

It failed with 1,616 votes for to 2,550 votes against.

Blanchard has no hotels, motels or other lodging.
