Thanks to COVID no bell ringing

There will not be Salvation Bell Ringing at Walmart this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

That’s the word from Dee Brown and Phyllis Linker.

“Because of the virus, we are not sure of getting full coverage for the kettle,” they said.

Linker has stood with the kettle since she moved to Washington in 1972. She has worked for three different organizers before she started to organize with Brown. Linker’s kettle history started when her grandparents were responsible for the kettle in Orlando, Fla. She thought it was wonderful to get to help ring the bell. The thrill is still there.
