Lt. Steve McMahan and the McClain County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a shooting on Interstate 35 Thursday morning.

Units from the sheriff’s department answered a “shots fired” call at 8:20 a.m. Thursday at mile marker 82.5 northbound from a 911 call to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

According to information gathered at 7:35 a.m. an unidentified male had parked his vehicle, a charcoal colored Chrysler 300, on the shoulder of the northbound side of  I-35 at approximately the 82.5 mile marker in McClain County.

Deputies reported the male then fired multiple rounds at two semi-trucks that were passing by, striking both vehicles and narrowly missing one of the drivers.

Video from one of the semi-trucks shows the vehicle and the male shooter, McMahan reported.

“According to statements from other witnesses, the shooter then got back into his vehicle and drove northbound,” McMahan said.

“Anyone with any information regarding this incident or information on the suspect’s vehicle is encouraged to contact the McClain County Sheriff’s Department at 405-527-2141.”
