After multiple delays due to weather, material delivery and construction, the ribbon cutting for the new Rotary Park at Purcell Lake will be held tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m.
“We are so excited to officially open the new Rotary playground,” said Purcell Parks and Recreation Director John Blue.
The Purcell Parks and Recreation Department will be serving free hot dogs to everyone and Sonshine Shaved Ice will be serving free snow cones for the kids beginning at 10 a.m.
The ribbon cutting will be at 11:15 a.m. and everyone is invited to play on the new equipment.
“I personally believe the playground is a great investment, not just for improving the lake, but also the physical health and mental well-being of the community,” Blue said.
The playground will feature two structures for kids of different ages to play, with an 8-bay swing set close by. Each structure will have a large built-in shade to help cool families while they play.
The entire site is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for people of all abilities.
“The importance for kids to be active in nature while learning physical and social skills cannot be understated,” Blue said.
