The former director of nursing at a Purcell assisted living facility is charged with using a forged prescription to obtain hydrocodone, a Schedule III controlled drug.
McClain County prosecutors charged Shawna Brown, 45, of Noble, with obtaining a controlled substance by forgery/fraud.
A warrant for her arrest is outstanding.
According to an affidavit the incident at Westbrook Gardens Assisted Living Center was reported to Purcell police on May 10 as theft of narcotics.
On May 18, Det. Sgt. Scott Stephens conducted the followup investigation.
Westbrook administrator Sally Perry and charge nurse Holly Mattingly had confronted Brown after the nursing staff reported a problem with the medications.
The affidavit states Brown’s grandmother is a resident at the center and Brown ordered several medications in the older woman’s name.
Nurses told Perry and Mattingly the medications were delivered to the center. One nurse reported seeing Brown remove the drugs from the drug lock box and drug log sheet from its notebook. Neither were seen again.
When the nurses voiced their concern to Brown, she said she would take care of it.
Instead the medications were not seen again and, in fact, were never part of the grandmother’s treatment.
When Perry and Mattingly confronted Brown, she collected her personal property and left the center.
They also contacted the former medical director who said he had questioned Brown about the drug orders and that she changed medical directors after they spoke.
