Phyllis Marie Pope died November 11, 2022, in Purcell, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years 7 months 29 days. Funeral Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2022, at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service. Phyllis was born March 13, 1940, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Kermit Arthur and Florence Ruth (Kepler) Burroughs.  She was raised in Emporia, Kansas, graduating in 1958. Phyllis continued her education in Kansas City, Kansas becoming an X-ray technician in 1960.

On October 3, 1964, she married Delbert Gene Pope in Kansas City.  In 1973, they made their home in Purcell.  Phyllis worked for Purcell Municipal Hospital for more than 30 years, retiring as the X-ray department manager.

She enjoyed painting, crocheting, reading, scrapbooking, and collecting antiques. Phyllis loved watching birds out her window, going to garage sales and antique shops, spending time with her family, and spoiling her dogs, Missy, Scooter and Bella.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Florence Burroughs; her husband of 45 years, Delbert Pope; her sister, Mary Bodenheimer; and her brothers, Fred Burroughs, John Burroughs and Gary Burroughs.

Survivors include her son, Kevin Pope and wife, Renee, of Norman; her stepsons, Ronnie Pope of Escondido, California, Gary Pope and wife, Karen, of Spring, Texas, and Rex Pope of Wichita, Kansas; her eight grandchildren; her 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
