From the Electric Department for the City of Purcell Green Avenue Lighting Continues

The City of Purcell is planning a lighting project that will brighten Green Avenue from Main Street to Walnut Creek. That will be followed with Phase ll that continues down Green to Walmart.

Trey Phillips is Superintendent of the Electric Department. Phillips is working with two lighting companies to determine what is the most attractive choice to brighten the areas. LED roadway lighting will provide a clean and crisp light, but the study will determine what is the best fixture and layout for the construction.

Plans will add poles and underground electric feeds that require support from other City department crews. Cooper Lighting has offered to perform a lighting demonstration for the areas.

The city plans to budget for Phase I during the next budget year, which begins July 2022. A date for work to begin has not be set. As experienced with many projects in the last year, the pandemic has caused long lead times for backordered lighting materials.
