New staff, teachers at Wayne

New staff and teachers at Wayne Public School include Nichol M. Melton, Mallory Sharp, Amy Cummings, Wyatt Cummings, Donna Schneberger, Tiffany Erwin and Lisa Deskin-Dodd.

Deskin-Dodd will teach at the high school. She has previously taught math at Norman North High School and Oklahoma City for over 25 years.

She said she wanted to get closer to home and teach in a smaller district.

The OU graduate has a daughter, Kourtney Sharp, a son, Kyle Dodd and three grandsons.

Erwin is a special education paraprofessional.

She is a graduate of Paoli High School and is currently working on finishing her teaching degree at Western Governers University.

“I worked at Wayne two years ago as a para in early childhood/Pre-K,” Erwin said. “Last year I worked as a sub while I focused on my college work but now I’m back.”

Erwin and her husband, Terrel, have two children Addison in the ninth grade and Alex in the sixth grade.

“I am excited about this new position because it allows me to gain experience on the high school level,” Erwin said. “All of my previous experience has been in Early Childhood/Elementary. I love both.

“I couldn’t resist the opportunity to be back at Wayne School because I love the energy here,” Erwin continued. “We have an awesome Special Education team this year and I jumped at the chance to be a part of it. It’s going to be a great year.”

Schneberger will teach freshman and sophomore English for a half day and pursue her other job as a travel agent in the afternoons. She previously taught 17 years at Purcell serving as a librarian and English teacher.

She and her husband, Don, have three grown children and five grandchildren.

She earned her bachelors degree from USAO, her English Endorsement from UCO and her master’s degree from ECU.

Wyatt Cummings will teach computers and STEM in grades, eight, nine, 10, 11 and 12. He and his wife, Amy, are both new teachers at Wayne.

Wyatt is a graduate of Pauls Valley High School and The University of Oklahoma. He previously taught science and math at Norman High School.

“I loved the tight-knit feel of the Wayne community and immediately felt welcome,” he said.

Amy is a graduate of Norman North and Oklahoma State University. This is her first teaching position. She will be a para-professional.

“I love the small community feel of the school and I want to make my students feel loved and understood,” she said.

Mallory Sharp will work in the school cafeteria.

“I have always wanted to be a Wayne Bulldog,” she said.

Melton and her husband, have a daughter, Riley Melton. After serving as a substitute for the past four years, Melton will teach Pre-K.

“After completing my term in the Army, I assisted with Troops to Teachers on obtaining her B.A. in Elementary Education.

She is a member of the McClain County 4-H, a barrel racer and No. 1 Bulldog fan.

“I am new to Wayne and absolutely love the community,” Melton said.
