Monday holiday

Call it what you will – Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples Day – but what Monday will be for many is a holiday.

City offices in Purcell, Wayne, Lexington, Washington and Goldsby will be closed, as will the McClain County Courthouse.

Federal offices will be closed and there will be no mail delivery.

State offices, however, will remain open.

Classes will continue at schools in Purcell, Washington, Lexington and Wayne. Mid-America Technology Center will be open on Monday.

Faculty, staff and students will be off for fall break later in the week, however.

The break for Purcell and Washington will be October 14-18. Wayne and MATC will be closed October 15-18 and Lexington’s fall break will run October 13-15.

Both McClain Bank and First United Bank will be closed.
