Melinda Rae Davis Slate

A Celebration of Life Service for Melinda Rae Davis Slate, 67, of Lexington will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the West Side Church of Christ in Lexington. Services were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Slate passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

She was born January 20, 1953 at Lackland AFB, Texas. Melinda found her soul mate in husband Jerry Slate. They loved each other unconditionally and worked together as a team. 

In their twenty-five years together, they built a home on Slaterosa Ranch in Lexington, Oklahoma. They enjoyed spending time together while working on the farm. They enjoyed taking care of the animals, each other and their home. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden and being outdoors.

Melinda retired from ONG in 2001, and then worked for Donwell Properties until her health begin to fail. Melinda was a member of the Lexington Church of Christ. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her! 

She was preceded in death by her Father, Bobby Ray Davis MIA 10/09/56; step-dad, Bob Driscoll, August 3, 2009 and grandson, Bryson Slate, August 10, 2017.

Melinda is survived by her husband, Jerry Slate of the home; children, Troy Slate of Purcell, Jeff and Tamra Ballard of Norman, Brian and Tracy Slate of Belize and Jeff and Mendy Slate of Norman; mother, Dolores Driscoll of Johnstown, Ohio; sister, Cara Bean of Johnstown, Ohio; brothers/sisters-in-law, Clyde and Dianna McKiddy of Lexington, Ted of Wyoming, Gary and Barbara Thakerman of Lexington, Okla., Pat Sharp of Lexington, Okla.,  Chris and Ruth Johnson of Lexington, Okla., and Aaron and Essa Smith of Norman, Okla.; Best Friend, Becky Blum of Hudson, Ill.; 11 Grandkids; 14 Great-Grandkids and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
