Hospital progress

Posted

When the Purcell city council meets on Tuesday, one item on the agenda will be selecting subcontractors for the city’s new hospital.

City manager Dale Bunn anticipates construction that’s visible to passersby will begin “around the end of the year.”

For now, all of the work falls under the heading of site preparation.

Work is continuing on storm water control, including changing the flow of storm water by physically filling in the old channel, backfilling with the right material to stabilize the land.

Also included is work to ensure any water that enters the old channel is carried away as well.

The site will require extensive road work to be done, along with construction of a retention pond.

Bunn said expect to see more trees removed to the west by I-35.

Presently, the city is working on an agreement with the FAA and State Department of Health to ensure the hospital’s helipad design meets location and safety requirements of the two agencies.
