Downburst damage

Rainfall amounts varied in this area after Tuesday’s surprise rainfall from .5” to up to an inch.

Unofficially, .72” fell in Purcell with the mesonet reporting .59” in Washington where an apparent downburst caused damage to buildings in the Washington School District.

There were no reports of injuries.

Power was knocked out in Lexington from 9:56 p.m.  to 10:56 p.m. with over 8,000 people without electricity in Cleveland County from the storm that moved through.

Rainfall was reported heavy in the Lexington area.
