County Commissioners address road issues

The Board of McClain County Commissioners convened in their regular session on Monday, July 31 at the county courthouse's Room 111.  County Clerk Pam Beller called the roll, confirming the presence of Chairman Terry Daniel, Vice Chairman Glen Murray, and member Wilson Lyles. The board swiftly endorsed the minutes of their preceding meeting on 7/24/2023.

Expenditures and Claims: Subsequent to the minutes' approval, the board gave its nod to various maintenance and operation claims, outlining fiscal year 2022-2023 expenses. Notable claims included Bruckner's Truck & Equipment for a dump truck under ARPA 2021.

Valuation Report and Equipment Disposal: In a series of decisions, the board acknowledged the 2023 McClain County Assessor's Valuation Report and endorsed a resolution for disposing of equipment, which included the sale of a 2016 Mack Truck acquired from Enid Mack Sales.

Appointments and Approvals: Bill Hammon and Pam Beller were affirmed as requisitioning officers, while Amy Sharp and Cindy Scott took on roles as receiving officers for the Excise & Equalization Boards. Additionally, the board gave the go ahead for the Washington Fire Department to purchase a new Chevrolet truck through a state contract.

Resolutions and Grants: Several resolutions were approved, encompassing topics such as accepting a reserved section road and a TV donation for the McClain County Jail. A grant from the Plains All American First Responder Grant Program was accepted for the acquisition of a mobile command console by the Sheriff's Office.

Road Crossings and Adjournment: Discussion took place between representatives from Lime Rock Resources and the board, addressing road crossing permits along county roadways. However, no concrete actions were taken. Concluding the session, the board moved to adjourn.
