Christmas is next week – the middle of the week, actually – so no long weekend for this Yuletide time.
Federal offices will be closed only on Christmas Day.
Closing for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be The Purcell Register, the McClain County Courthouse, state offices and city government in Purcell, Lexington and Goldsby.
City offices in Washington will be closed from Christmas Eve through December 26 while those in Wayne will close at noon Monday and remain closed through Christmas Day.
Area schools will be out on semester break.
The long interruption to the school year begins Friday for Lexington Public Schools and Monday for Purcell, Wayne and Washington, as well as Mid-America Technology Center.
Classes will resume January 6 at the public schools and January 7 at MATC.
Banks will be closed on Christmas Day.
Purcell Public Library will close Christmas Eve and reopen December 26.
It will also be closed on New Year’s Day and January 2. The latter is a work day for library staff who will do inventory before reopening January 3.
