I wish there was more we could do for those communities and those who live and work there.

Purcell’s annual Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet drew a huge crowd at the Sam Noble Museum in Norman last Thursday.
Chamber President Greg Wheat made remarks during his welcome to the event.
After dinner, a live auction by auctioneer Ivan Humbolt raised $8,300.
Dentist and long-time civic and school volunteer, Dr. Glenn A. Mead, was named the Purcell Citizen of the Year.
Marci Bean was named the Lexington Educator of the Year while David Hilger took the honor for Purcell Schools.
Rachel Cash was named the Wayne Educator of the year while Purcell Assistant Chief of Police James Bolling was named the Government Person of the Year.
Pat Martin was named the Volunteer of the Year.
Taking the title of Business person of the Year was Walmart’s John Sanders.
Wilson-Little Funeral Home was tabbed as the Business of the Year.
With the Chamber celebrating 130 years of existence, Mayor Graham Fishburn read a Proclamation in honor of the organization.
In-coming Chamber president for next year is Melissa Pruitt.
Chamber Director Elisabeth Baker was also recognized for her five years as leader of the organization.
