Albert “Bud” Leroy Morris went to be with the Lord, May 22, 2022. He was born June 27, 1938, in Trousdale, Oklahoma to Albert and Dolly Bell (Wheeler) Morris. A double memorial service was held for Albert and his brother, Wayne Morris on April 1st, 2023, at the Lexington Cemetery.
Albert grew up and attended school in Lexington. Joining the Army in August of 1956, and after basic, he shipped to France where he served until July 1958, remaining in the reserves until July 1962. After thirteen days aboard his returning troop ship, he said, “The Statue of Liberty was the prettiest sight he has ever seen in his life.”
After the military, Albert worked construction helping to build The Penn Square Mall in Oklahoma City. He then went into the oil field where he worked all positions from floor hand to driller, working for most of the oil companies in Oklahoma and surrounding states, until his retirement.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy Wolf; his brothers, Larry and Wayne Morris; his niece, Belinda Hector; his nephews, Larry Morris and Zack Hector; and his ex-wife, Frona Wells.
Albert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Verna Morris; his stepdaughters, Billie Jo Little of Slaughterville, Shawna McCormic of Enid and Shelia Myrick of Williamsburg, Iowa; his nine grandchildren, Kim Piggee, John Mayo, Skylar Mayo, Gary Beebe, Guy Beebe, Sarah Ogden, Kera Kusack, Melinda Woolsey and Brandon Young; his 20 great-grandchildren; his sister, Louise Wyche; and his brother, Robert Morris; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Albert was loved by all.
