A Bulldog moment

On Friday night, Lexington football fans are hoping the hometown Bulldogs take a huge bite out of the Ruf-Nex from Crooked Oak High School.

After all, it is homecoming.

Thirty candidates – 15 girls and 15 boys – are in the running to wear royal crowns. All are seniors.

The court’s first public appearance will be in a downtown parade at 1:30 p.m.

The coronation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with the opening kickoff following at 7 p.m.

Queen candidates and the organization they are representing are Shelby Ary, cheerleading; Kelsie Cormany, wrestling; Carime Espinoza, band; Serenity Houck, student council; Alexys Hyde, FFA; Jaci Idlett, basketball; Anna Loyd, show choir/vocal; Mary Martin, football; Carla Munoz, National Honor Society; Madeline Pack, fast-pitch softball; Sierra Petit, slow-pitch softball; Chariti Ramsey, Family Career and Community Leaders of America; Harley Salisbury, track; Lola Simpson, Gifted & Talented; and Brooke Willingham, Vo-Tech.

Ary, 17, is cheerleading captain, Student Council and FCCLA president and NHS member. She is the daughter of Crystal Ary and Travis Ary.

Cormany, 18, has managed the football, wrestling and track teams, as well playing softball and basketball and participating in track. She is the daughter of Bryan and Jamie Cormany.

Espinoza, 17, is in band. She is the daughter of Juana and Jose Espinoza.

Houck, 18, is a member of FCCLA and Student Council and holds the Presidential Award. She is the daughter of Troy and Renee Wright.

Hyde, 17, is FFA president and is on the FFA show and livestock judging teams. She is also in 4-H. She is on the superintendent’s honor roll. She is the daughter of Travis and Cheryl Hyde.

Idlett, 17, plays basketball, fast- and slow-pitch softball and competes in track. She is a member of Student Council and National and Oklahoma Honor Societies. She is also on the superintendent’s honor roll. She is the daughter of Dennis and Jennie Idlett.

Loyd, 17, is a member of show choir, Upward Bound, Student Council and NHS. She is on the principal’s honor roll and is a cheerleader. She is the daughter of Angela Hickey, Michael Skaggs and Robert Loyd.

Martin, 17, is a manager for the football, wrestling and baseball teams. She is the daughter of A.J. Green and Michael Martin.

Munoz, 18, is a tutor and a member of NHS and Student Council. She is on the superintendent’s honor roll. She is the daughter of Fermin and Maria Munoz.

Pack, 17, plays softball and also competes in wrestling and archery. She is on Student Council and is a member of NHS. She is in the Gifted & Talented program. She is the daughter of Sara and Todd Pack.

Petit, 17, plays fast- and slow-pitch softball and is on the principal’s honor roll. She is the daughter of Michael Petit.

Ramsey, 17, is a member of FCCLA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, NHS, Oklahoma Honor Society and Student Council. She is the daughter of David and Gina Ramsey.

Salisbury, 17, plays softball and basketball and competes in track and archery. She is a cheerleader and is a member of show choir and Student Council. She is the daughter of Caterina Salisbury and Anthony Salisbury.

Simpson, 17, is in the Gifted & Talented program and is a member of NHS and Student Council. She is the daughter of Lisa Moser.

Willingham, 18, is enrolled in graphic design at Mid-America Technology Center. She is the daughter of Kelli Broome and Curtis Broome.

King candidates and the organizations they represent are Avery Armstead, football; Josue Calixto, show choir/vocal; Jonathan Chavez, NHS; Tyler Conley, FFA; Cameron Conner, powerlifting; Ryan Dicksion, Gifted & Talented; Dominick Finch, band; Braydon Forbes, cross country; Dalton Matthews, wrestling ; Carter Moore, baseball; Josue Ocampo, vo-tech; Seth Pearman, track; Teagin Pruitt, basketball; Destrie Shea, football; and Wyatt Webb, baseball.

Armstead, 17, plays football and competes in powerlifting and wrestling. He was football player of the week four times. He is the son of Lisa Armstead and Tim Lee.

Calixto, 18, plays football and basketball and is in show choir. He was best dancer at the Lonestar competition in 2019-20. He is the son of Saul and Leticia Calixto.

Chavez, 17, is an NHS member. He plays basketball and competes in track. He is on the superintendent’s honor roll. He is the son of Maritza Chavez and Tiburcio Chavez.

Conley, 18, plays football and participates in powerlifting. He is a member of FFA and takes welding at MATC. He is the son of Alicia Counts and Benton Conley.

Conner, 17, plays football and participates in powerlifting. He is the son of James and Lindsey Conner.

Dicksion, 17, is a member of NHS and is in the Gifted & Talented Program. He attends MATC. He is the son of Eugene and Denise Dicksion.

Finch, 17, is in band and is a member of the Academic Team. He is on the principal’s honor roll. He is the son of Willie Finch and Toni Young.

Forbes, 17, competes in cross country, wrestling and archery. He is an academic shooter in the latter. He is the son of Ronnie Forbes and Chris Forbes.

Matthews, 17, competes in wrestling and plays football. He was most valuable wrestler in 2018 and 2019. He is the son of Jennifer Travis.

Moore, 17, competes in cross country and track and plays basketball and baseball. He is a member of FCA. He is the son of Doug Moore and Ricki Lea Moore.

Ocampo, 17, is the son of Lucia Trejo and Felipe Ocampo.

Pearman, 17, plays football and basketball. He also competes in cross country and track and participates in powerlifting. He is a member of NHS. He is the son of Jeremy and Lesley Pearman.

Pruitt, 17, plays basketball. He is the son of Jeremy and Misty Pruitt.

Shea, 18, plays football and participates in powerlifting. He is in the Gifted & Talented Program and is also a member of the Oklahoma Army National Guard. He is the son of Bill Shea and Hazel Shea.

Webb, 18, plays football and baseball and participates in powerlifting. He is the son of Chad Webb and Amanda Webb.

Attendants are four kindergarten students.

Flower girls are Greenlee Hill and Cooper Ross.

Greenlee, 5, is a member of First Baptist Church of Lexington where she sings in the children’s choir. She plays T-ball for the Lexington Dirt Divas. She is the daughter of Curtis and Melissa Hill.

Cooper, 5, plays softball and enjoys tumbling. She is the daughter of Jerry and Dawnnie Ross.

Crown bearers are Jerrod Haley and Knox Rillema.

Jerrod, 6, plays baseball and enjoys working on the farm and riding tractors. He is the son of Chris and Jennifer Haley.

Knox, 5, plays football and baseball and enjoys wrestling. He is the son of Dustin and Lisa Rillema.
