Editor’s note: Answering The Purcell Register’s five questions this week is Justin McDaniel, interim McClain County Extension director/agriculture educator.
Q: Why did you choose Extension?
A: I love to be able to educate people about agriculture and how to assist producers in improving their operations.
Q: You have to be all things to all people. What is your main area of interest/expertise?
A: I have always been interested in livestock production and I would consider this an area I am passionate about.
Q: Did Extension play a big role in your life growing up?
A: Yes, I was involved in 4-H in Johnston County, which is where 4-H started in Oklahoma.
Q: If you weren’t doing this, what would you have chosen as a career?
A: I started my college career wanting to manage a feedyard, but I am happy with the choice I have made.
Q: How do you relax away from the office?
A: I spend time with my family and manage our cow/sheep operation.
