The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City has the remains of a person who was killed in a house fire on Ropers Avenue in rural Wayne last Sunday morning.

McClain County Sheriff Landy Offolter reports officials know the name of the person who lived in the house but positive identification has not been confirmed.

Offolter said two children who often stay there were located away from the fire.

The ME will also determine the cause of death, the sheriff said. Both Wayne and Purcell Firefighters answered the call around 6 a.m.

Sunday but the house was already a total loss by the time they arrived.
