Billy Charles Shore died June 16, 2020 in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years 3 days. Memorial Services (Celebration of Life Services) are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Services are entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service. Bill was born June 13, 1934 in Enid, Oklahoma, to Charles Howard and Wilma Audrey (Bashaw) Shore. He was raised in Enid, Oklahoma, graduating in 1952, and then continued his education at Phillips University earning his Bachelors in Geology.

Bill was inducted into the United States Army in 1956. During his service, he was stationed in Brussels, where the 1958 World’s Fair was hosted. There he met Sarah Alice Cowart, who was a hostess in the America’s pavilion. Bill was honorably discharged in 1959.

On May 30, 1960, he married Sarah Alice Cowart in Reform, Alabama. They made their home briefly in Norman, Oklahoma, where they both pursued their higher education. Bill earned his Master’s in Criminal Justice from the University of Oklahoma. Bill and Alice have made Lexington their home, for the last 60 years, after they purchased their current home.

Bill began working for the Department of Corrections at the Lexington Assessment and Receiving Center in 1978, and retired in 2000 as the Facility Classification Manager.

Bill enjoyed many things in his life including a love of the outdoors, and everything that meant. He enjoyed woodworking,  restoring old steam trunks, gardening, vacations on the beach, and above all else, family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Wilma Shore; and his son, Charles Walker Shore.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Shore of Lexington; son, Ross Shore and wife, Noell, of Lexington; daughters, Sarah Pearson and husband, Keith, of Estes Park, Colorado, and Mary Shore of Purcell; nine grandchildren, David Peery, Stephanie Shore, Erin Shore, Morgan Maddux, Alexander Pearson, Josh Pearson, Lucas Pearson, Caylin Clanton and husband, Walker, and Camlin Dunn; eight great-grandchildren, Brendon Peery, Bradley Shore, Mason Shore, Emmett Clapp, Alexia Bennett, Charleigh Clanton, Terri Clanton and Waylon Clanton; and numerous other relatives and friends.
