Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs get road victories

A make up game with Elmore City kicked off Wayne’s 2022 portion of their basketball season. The Bulldogs beat the Badgers 68-48.

Junior Kaleb Madden led the team with 23 points, including five treys.

Senior Ethan Mullins and sophomore Wyatt Webster joined him in double figures with 15 and 12, respectively.

Head coach Jackson Embry and his Bulldogs will play Alex at 8:20 p.m. Thursday in their first game of the Alex tournament.

January 11 they are at Vanoss and January 14 they are at Stratford.

Girls

Coach Bill Burnett and his Lady Bulldogs improved their record to 4-3 with a 59-36 win over ECP Monday night.

Eight Lady Bulldogs played and eight Lady Bulldogs scored in the win.

Sophomore Haylee Durrence led the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points. Junior Kaylee Madden added 12.

“We played well on defense, holding ECP to 34 percent shooting from the field,” Burnett said.

“This was a good win for us coming off of the break.”

Burnett and his team face Mountain View-Gottebo at 4:20 p.m. Thursday in their first game of the Alex tournament.
