Mr. Duty entered the Kingdom of Heaven on May 19, 2025 after a short battle with cancer.
Wes was born on April 30,1958 at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma. He was the third of six children born to Wesley Archie Duty and Barbara Ann Sweetman Duty and the only son.
Wes lived in Norman where he attended Jefferson Elementary School until the middle of the fifth grade and then moved to Lexington with his mother and siblings. Wes then attended Lexington Public Schools and graduated with the class of 77.
Wes worked at Homeland Grocery store for a number of years and then finished his career working for the Veterans Administration for 20 years and retiring in 2020.
He loved fishing, bird watching, camping at Sulphur, vacationing in Colorado, anything where he could be outdoors. He also loved the prison ministry which he did with his father for many years. Wes also loved playing Skip Bo, dominoes and games with his family and church family.
Above anything else, Wes had an unshakable and unwavering faith, he was a born again Christian and a devout and faithful servant of the Lord throughout his life. He attended Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Norman for many years and loved his church family. He loved going to his Tuesday “Go Getters” with his church friends, and the fellowship shared among them.
Wes was an inspiration to all who knew him, and he loved his family dearly. He was the wind beneath our wings, our hero and will be sorely missed. Go rest high on that mountain brother until we meet again.
