The Wayne Lady Bulldogs are at Central today (Thursday) for District play.

Finishing out their season, Wayne played Bray-Doyle Monday and Sterling Tuesday.

Last Thursday, they lost to Luther, 8-5.

Bray Doyle

Monday was another win – 8-0 over Bray Doyle. That moved their season record to 14-11.

Alyssa Hobson led her team with four hits in five at bats from the leadoff spot. Kendall Sparks batted three runs in for the Lady Bulldogs.

Hobson, Maddie Moreno, Cylie Jones, Kimber Reaves and Addison Clagg all had one RBI.

Moreno was in the circle for the shutout win. She struck out thirteen batters in seven innings of work. She allowed just one hit and walked two batters.

Wayne scored one run in each of the first three innings. They added five runs in the seventh to seal their win.

Luther

Last Thursday, Wayne traveled to Luther and fell to the Lady Lions 8-5.

Once again, the Lady Bulldogs outhit Luther 11-9 but errors were the difference.

Wayne got on the board first when Cylie Jones singled to score one run. They added one more in the third inning when Maddie Moreno doubled to score one run.

Luther scored three runs to take the lead in the bottom of the third.

Wayne added one run in the fifth to tie it up at 3-3.

But Luther answered and scored one in the bottom of the fifth.

In the sixth inning, Skie Jones went six pitches deep in her at bat before singling to the left side to score one and, again, tie the score at 4-4.

Luther would score four runs in the sixth to retake the lead.

Wayne added one more run in the seventh, but could not overcome the deficit.

Alyssa Hobson, Audra Watts and Natalie Knobloch led the Lady Bulldogs with two hits apiece. Moreno, Cylie Jones, Taelynn Ringwald, Skie Jones and Kimber Reaves all had one hit.
