Wayne’s 2025 football season came to an end Friday night after their 35-6 loss at home to Konawa.

Wayne finished the season with a 2-7 record.

Konawa finished as the District champion.

“It was one of those games where we had some opportunities that we didn’t take advantage of,” said Wayne head coach Brandon Sharp. “We got big-played (by Konawa) too much.”

Wayne’s lone score came on a 29-yard run by sophomore Jeremiah Peterson in the third quarter.

Wayne loses four seniors this year, Ethan Click, Logan Simpson, Max McGlory and Joel Rojas.

“I’m proud of our seniors,” Sharp said. “They played hard and gave it everything they had every week. They’ll be missed.”

Next season Wayne will return an experienced nucleus of players.

“We had a lot of young guys get meaningful snaps this year and those were valuable reps,” Sharp said. “Hopefully that will translate into the off-season for them to hit the weights hard and be ready to go next season.”
