With a 6-0 win over Alex on Monday night, Wayne improved their record to 2-4.

“I feel like we have had good offensive days and good defensive days, but this game it all lined up for the win.

“If we can stay there, we will win ball games,” coach Nikki Herrin said.

Junior Faith Brazell pitched in the win. She went all seven innings and fanned 10 batters. She allowed just two  hits.

“Faith pitched lights out. They weren’t able to hit her hard, just getting ground balls and pop flies. She really controlled the game.”

Offensively, Wayne was seeing the ball well and racked up 10 hits in the win.

Emily Woody, Alyssa Hobson and Ava Stottlemyre each had two hits. Karsen Adams, Allison Ryan, Kaylee Madden and Brazell had one a piece.

Stottlemyre, a freshman, saw her first playing time in the Alex game. She came in as the Designated Player and Herrin said he she liked her fast hands at the plate.

Coach Herrin praised her offense that they were moving runners around the bases during the game.

Last Friday was another story, as the Lady Bulldogs took a 7-0 loss to AmPo.

“We had a tough time getting their pitcher’s timing. But, I’m proud of the team, defensively. We did not have inning with lots of errors, which is somethign we’ve struggled with. So I’m  proud of them for that,” Herrin said.

The Lady Bulldogs had one hit in the loss, a single from Woody in the sixth inning.

Tuesday night Wayne was scheduled to host Central.

Then the Lady Bulldogs are in Asher starting Thursday for a tournament. They play Maysville at 12:20 today (Thursday).
