Washington man injured in accident

Posted

A four vehicle accident on Interstate 40 early Thursday morning sent a Washington man to the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Jesse Sanders, 33, of Washington was a passenger in a 2016 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Starr Sanders, 32 of Washington.

The OHP said their vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2014 Chevrolet Pickup, driven by Eliu Vigil, 34 of Midwest City, who was driving impaired at the time of the 3:26 a.m. collision.

The impact of the collision spun the Sanders’ vehicle around until it was facing west.

It was then struck head-on by a 2021 Peterbuilt semi driven  by Surjit Brar, 62, of Selma, Calif. That collision knocked the Sanders’ vehicle into the path of a 2015 Peterbuilt semi driven by Austin Coa, 28, of Mansfield, Ark.

Sanders was the only person injured in the four vehicle crash. He was admitted in fair condition with head and truck internal injuries, the OHP reported.

All four vehicles were eastbound on I-40 1/2 mile east of Peebly Road in Oklahoma City. Vinson was assisted at the scene by Trooper Jason Owens, Trooper Roy Smith, Trooper Dustin Carlton, Lt. Santos Diaz, EMSA and the Oklahoma City Fire Department.
