After a week off, Washington hosts Dickson at 7 p.m. Friday night at Reed Field.

After the bye week, the 2-1 Warriors are eager to get back into action.

The Comets will operate out of a spread formation on offense and base their defense out of a 3-4, according to Washington Head Coach Brad Beller.

Beller said the Comets like to slide their defensive front into a 4-2 look quite a bit of the time.

“Their defensive line and linebackers are very aggressive,” Beller said. “Their secondary is long and athletic but they mainly try to stay in front of receivers and don’t get involved much with the run game.”

The Comets’ front seven try to get pressure from different angles and alignments.

“They mix up their front so the key for us will be to control the front line and keep their quarterback in the pocket,” Beller said.

The Washington head man said the Dickson quarterback transferred from Madill this season and can flat play.

The Comets are averaging 274 yards a game through the air and also have a solid rushing attack.

“They had a couple of basketball players come out and their offensive line is all back from last year,” Beller noted.

Beller said the quarterback can run but the Comets prefer to throw the ball all over the field.

Dickson is 2-1 with victories over Coalgate and Madill and were almost 3-0 but lost in the closing seconds to Hugo.
