Washington’s basketball teams each picked up a pair of wins after games against Lexington and Davis.
The Lady Warriors defeated Lexington 53-17 at home last Thursday.
They were led on the offensive end of the floor by senior Mattie Richardson and her 19 points.
They got nine points from Kyndall Wells and eight points from Breanna Lindert.
“We’re beginning to get better,” said head coach Rocky Clarke.
His team followed the Lexington win with a trip to Davis the next night where they took a 42-32 final.
Madisson Myers paced the Warriors with 14 points.
Wells and Lindert each scored eight and Richardson had seven points.
Washington is now 4-6 on the season.
Boys coach TJ Scholz and his No. 10 ranked team defeated Lexington 74-37.
The Warrior defense was smothering and held Lexington to under 10 points in each quarter.
They held the Bulldogs to quarter totals of 5,4,8 and 7.
The next night they beat Davis 77-49.
Senior Tony Trejo led the team with 13 points.
Fellow senior Evan Andrews followed that up with 12 points and junior Hayden Hicks added 11.
Washington is 8-3 this season.
Notes
Both teams were set to play Purcell on Tuesday night but a Covid issue forced the cancellation of the boys game.
The girls were able to get their game in.
Both teams are in tournaments this weekend.
Clarke’s team traveled to Little Axe for the 27th Annual Bobby Hicks Invitational.
They open with Chickasha today (Thursday) at 6 p.m.
The boys will be in Newcastle at the Otho “Sweet Pea” Curtis Invitational.
They square off with host Newcastle at 5:30 today (Thursday).
