The Washington softball team has been tightening the screws to opposing teams through their defense.
The Warriors have only given up one run in the past seven games.
It’s something that head coach Tylor Lampkin is happy to see.
“I’m proud of our girls and the pitching I’ve seen,” Lampkin said. “Our three girls have gotten quite a few innings in and we’ve been able to stretch some things out.”
Lampkin said the lineup is still working itself out and a lot of different players are seeing playing time.
“We’ve given some kids some opportunities,” Lampkin said. “We still have some kids fighting for playing time.”
Casady
The Warriors picked up two wins against Casady, 17-0 and 9-0, on August 11.

Isabella Castillo was 2-2 with a double and three RBIs.
Anna Mitchell and Jaylee Gray were both 2-2 with two RBIs.
“We’ve been playing these double headers and it’s hard to always get in who you want to play,” Lampkin said.
Little Axe
Washington beat Little Axe 10-0 on August 14.
Blackburn K’d five batters in the game.
Ava Salcedo homered and went 2-2 with two ribbies.
Crossings
The Warriors defeated Crossings Christian Monday by a count of 16-1.
Washington put up 11 runs in the first inning and Dennis cruised in the circle.
Pogue was 1-1 with a double and drove in two runs. She also scored three times.
“We’re ready for the grind and the thick part of our schedule,” Lampkin said. “It will get harder and it will beef up as we add some State tournament teams to the schedule.”
Washington is 8-0 this season.
