Warrant issued

Suspect was staying in vacant house

Failing to appear for a court date prompted a judge to issue a bench warrant for a Little Axe man on two misdemeanor charges in McClain County District Court.

Brian E. Ryan, 41, is charged with breaking and entering a dwelling without permission and knowingly receiving or concealing stolen property.

His bond is set at $1,000.

According to an affidavit, Purcell police were dispatched to the 300 block of North 6th Avenue on February 3 on a report of a suspicious man.

One officer saw a man later identified as Ryan exit the front door of the house at 319 N. 6th.

The home is vacant and is being renovated. A second person was reported in the house.

Police entered but didn’t find anyone in the house. There was, however, a Honda moped in the living room.

Police ran the VIN and learned the moped was stolen in Norman earlier in the day.

Officers contacted the home’s owner who said no one had permission to be in the house. The owner of the moped also said he didn’t know Ryan and had not given anyone permission to take the moped.

When questioned, Ryan said a neighbor next door had given him permission to stay in the house.
