Veterans Day closings

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

It began with the 1918 armistice that ended World War I.

More than a century later, we continue to observe it by its name since1954 – Veterans Day.

For 68 years and counting, it has honored American veterans of all wars.

Accordingly, it is recognized as a holiday by the federal, state and McClain County governments.

There will be no mail delivery Friday.

City offices in Purcell, Lexington, Goldsby, Washington and Wayne will be closed, as will First United Bank and McClain Bank.

Area schools, however, will have classes.

Those schools include Purcell, Lexington, Washington, Wayne and Mid-America Technology Center.
